This article is the sixth in a series on the agreement of the colors: Find the first article
In the rest of our articles on how to tune the color of our clothes through no fault of taste, we will focus on the colors of shoe that can be worn depending on the color of our clothes.
Give your shoes
As we saw in the article on the recall of colors ,
It is fashionable to try to give your shoes with your belt, your watch and even your bag!
By the way, do not forget to follow our advice for the care of your shoes !
Rule # 1: black shoes go with everything!
In fact, the black shoes are the footwear of choice city.
If you need to invest in a costume for a serious job, choose your black shoes.
They are required with a black suit, and go perfectly with a gray suit.
With a navy blue suit they show a serious style, "corporate".
Well with brown pants, they assert a more serious style.
Be careful though ... they can shock with pants too bright!
The brown shoes or "camel": the second purchase
Some purists still consider street shoe shoes like brown shoes to wear in the country!
But, although it should know this story there to avoid wearing brown shoes for special occasions or for an important meeting, attitudes have evolved ... and no one will make you think if you wear nice shoes in brown City!
Evidence, we find many shoes type "brogue" (carnations are in the same piece of leather than the stem) ... so that at one time, only the brown derbies could have been.
Agreeing with many colors, the brown shoes will be your second purchase, .. in your quest for complete wardrobe!
They go well with navy blue, gray, brown and any type of brown.
The Bordeaux, gray
Close to black, burgundy go well with black pants ... but as for gray shoes (to spend on gray suits), this unconventional color must be perfectly assumed.
Note that they will be of great on jeans!
Let's be smart, let's be smart, give our shoes in our pants!

The awful white socks with shoes and a costume! great advice.
# 2 by Captain cave at March 24, 2010
It should be added that the conventions (some strict it is true) want the brown is proscribed in the evening (according to the British adage: no brown After Six), both for the costume for the shoes.
In addition, shoes "ox blood" (color of cordovan leather) are the best with a navy blue suit.
Finally, fashion is the patina. This natural effect due to aging of the leather is also artificially created to give color effects (eg gradient). The range is now very broad and it is quite possible to assert his individuality through shoes in shades of bronze, purple or blue.
# 3 by Johan at May 5, 2010
Interesting, especially for shoes ... and burgundy with cream shoes, very light beige, as worn as pants or as a shirt? Should you stay on a pair of jeans with bright shoes?
# 4 by The Man chic at May 6, 2010
Hello Johan,
With clear shoes, pants should be avoided too dark.
The clear shoes are not the easiest to tune. Preferably they will in good weather (spring and summer).
If they are summer footwear, like Tod's drivers or Fairmount, or cotton shoes, you can try not to wear socks.
In all cases, you can associate them with pants and cotton / linen or clear (white, beige, khaki) or sour (light blue, red, pink etc ...).
As for the jeans, it is not recommended in summer. Also avoid too bright socks over jeans ... it could effect the white socks!

# 6 by The Man chic at October 25, 2010

Hello, everything is blue with a John Gross, the moccasin Bordeaux year Richelieu black through brown derbies or even boots dead leaves, or gray.
Avoid sneakers just purchased a sports shop
# 11 by WhiteShoes at November 6, 2010
Hello,
With blue jeans and white shoes, what color of socks do you use?
And more generally in the case of white shoes, can you put white socks without committing an error of taste?
Thank you in advance
# 12 by Man chic at November 7, 2010
Hello WhiteShoes,
The white socks are banned from your wardrobe except for sports.
Man-chic you coneille socks navy blue cotton, or, if you want a little originality, Burlington socks.
# 13 by WhiteShoes at November 7, 2010
Thank you very much for your reply, I will invest in socks
# 14 by Manub at November 15, 2010
Sorry to contradict some, but it does not brown shoes with a navy blue suit. We need black shoes.
# 15 by Man chic at November 15, 2010
Good evening Manub
I do not agree with you.
The black shoes and brown shoes go perfectly with a navy blue suit. The brown shoes only have a connotation more "relaxed". Until one time, only black shoes were allowed in town, while the Maroons were devoted to the campaign. However mores change, and if the shoes are given to your belt, watchband and the briefcase, brown shoes go perfectly with a navy blue suit.
# 16 by Manub at December 13, 2010
Without wanting to sound pretentious or snobby, the criteria of formal elegance are normally defined by the codes in force in the aristocracy. In this environment, the navy blue suit is worn only with black shoes. However, it is true that in our society, the markers are becoming increasingly blurred, it does not even know that references these days. The nobility, the stars of showbiz, politicians? Go figure ....
# 17 by mias at April 22, 2011

Hello,
I would have wanted to know what to wear as pants with red shoes?
Thank you
# 21 by Amaury at December 14, 2010
Hello,
Do you think I can put a John or navy blue velvet trousers with red shoes?
Thank you
# 22 by Man chic at December 14, 2010
Hi Amaury,
Yes red shoes, burgundy or eggplant will go perfectly with jeans.
Ausi velvet pants can be fashionable.
In all cases, your shoes will give you a dandy Italian side.
Think of a recall of discrete color (red sleeve on a jacket in navy blue cotton, flannel or chachemire)

Hi, The range of a black velvet blazer over a
white shirt (with tie), a denim and these
boots
( http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/products/mx/BGN10TH_mx.jpg ) it is
reasonable? I hesitate only for the agreement between the blazer
velvet and brown boots ... Thanks for your answer
# 24 by Man chic at January 19, 2011
Hello Maurice,
I am not convinced by the association black jacket, brown shoes. In terms of contents and forms velvet and denim combine very well.
Let's be smart, let's be smart
# 25 by Emmanuel at February 14, 2011
Hello
I wish to associate this was a blue chinos with a pair drivers cardinal red ...
In your opinion??
In advance thank you ...
# 26 by Man chic at February 18, 2011
Hello Emmanuel,
Riviera in the spirit, I find this perfect combination.
I guess the drivers are in-calf velvet.
the red acordera also with white pants or blue a little darker.
Good walks along the sea!

# 30 by Wolf at April 23, 2011
Hello,
I own a pair of shoes derby loop color "chestnut". I wonder if I can associate them with a suit, and if so what color for this dress? A light gray or brown they agree? More generally, what color of pants and jacket?
In advance, thank you.
# 31 by Man chic at April 26, 2011
Hello Wolf,
The chesnut (hazelnut), varies between beige and honey.
So you can put with, beige, gray, blue ...
To summarize the colors that go well with brown, taking into account that your shoes are lighter, avoid associations with fabrics too dark except for Jean Gross.
# 32 by Wolf at April 26, 2011
Thank you for answering me. What to wear colored shoes with "chestnut".

# 34 by GEOFFROY at May 21, 2011
Hello,
I have to go to a wedding "relaxed" on the beach. I bought a beige suit, ultimately too light for my taste (string). I thought putting a light blue shirt and a pocket slightly sustained the same color and sheen medium brown shoes (matching belt). What I do is the right choice? Thank you in advance
# 35 by Man chic at May 30, 2011
Hello Geoffrey,
Yes, I think your outfit perfect for a wedding where the groom is not
Beautiful celebration.
# 36 by John at May 21, 2011
Hi all,
First thank you for these precious items and all information grouped together.
Up questions.
Is it possible to wear a blazer (navy blue) with black boots (and matching belt, of course), or is it really necessary to stick to brown?
Is it to wear a blazer with silver buttons? (In order not to complicate the arrangements of colors in metals - belt and cuff links)
Can you wear an Ascot (in the same neck, tucked into the shirt) and blazer with jeans? (And cuffs) - and a pocket?
If so, can you match it with the cover? (In shades of bright orange perhaps? Is it possible with a white shirt or blue sky?)
All this from the perspective of a casual chic look, wear with jeans.
So many questions!
Thank you in advance (and for the tutorials)!
John
# 37 by Man chic at May 30, 2011
Hello John,
One answer to all your questions: "Yes."
Yes for shoes in black blazer. The blazer is the prerogative of clubs where the brown shoes are rarely welcome.
Yes for silver buttons, like the stripes of a club tie, or a blazer badge, buttons are used, originally, to mark an affiliation or degree.
For the ascot, also known as "tie fighter" which is halfway between the scarf and bow tie, you will have any assurance of the dandy to assume it.
By cons .... I'll add no matching clutch the scarf ... In the folder, if it is white, maybe .... But the matching pouch in ascot, this is too much for me.
Anyway, I'm interested in pictures of your summer outfits: postmaster@homme-chic.com
Best regards.

Hello, and congratulations for this site always full of good advice.
I am in full agreement on the question of color for my wedding outfit. I am indeed witnessed an original marriage be held in the islands. I leave for the time being held on a white shirt, navy blue blazer, beige trousers, navy blue suspenders (no belt, since it is apparently prohibited) and bow tie navy blue and white. Your expertise I would be a great help to choose the color of my shoes (I imagined white or navy blue) and to reassure me (or redirect me) in my choices.
Hope these questions and advice can help other readers, as was the case for me in the past on this site.
Thank you for everything.

Hello,
for a wedding, I opted for a navy blue suit and a lilac shirt.
I would appreciate your recommendations as to the color of shoes to wear for the occasion ...
Is it good taste to allow a bit of eccentricity with colored socks? If yes, do I have to agree with my shirt or rather my tie (purple amethyst)?
Thank you for your advice!
# 44 by Man chic at September 24, 2011
Hello Nicoco,
If you want to put your shoes before, and that you care about the color, I recommend the blue (the same color as the costume).
All my best wishes!

Hi Sab,
People often ask me what color shirt for a wedding ...
I think we should stay on a white (or cream or ivory).
Then for the tie / ascot, vest ... must indeed try to agree quietly in the colors of the bride.

Hello Germain,
Personally I do not recommend the purchase of such a suit, unless you have already provided quite a wardrobe, and you do not wear the jacket and pants together.
Good purchases.
